| WASHINGTON, D.C — Today, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) announced her committee assignments for the 118th Congress. Lummis will continue serving on the Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW), the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, and the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee. All three committees have broad authority over a wide variety of issues critical for the state of Wyoming including public lands, energy production, transportation, financial innovation, and economic development. Of the committee assignments, Lummis said: “My focus in Congress has always been ‘all Wyoming, all the time,’ and I look forward to continuing to serve on these important Senate committees that have jurisdiction over issues that impact the lives of people in Wyoming each and every day. “On the Environment and Public Works Committee, I will continue to fight against President Biden’s reckless environmental policies that are harming domestic energy production in not only Wyoming but the entire nation. I will also continue to work on permitting reform to speed up critical energy and infrastructure projects in Wyoming. “Unreliable broadband and limited transportation options are two of the biggest impediments to economic growth and diversity in Wyoming. On the Commerce Committee, I will continue to work to expand rural broadband and address transportation needs for communities and small businesses throughout the state of Wyoming. “Lastly, Wyoming paved the way for financial innovation and now it’s time for the federal government to follow. On the Banking Committee, I will ensure digital assets are regulated in a way that encourages innovation, while also putting robust consumer protections in place. As this new Congress begins, I remain committed to establishing clear regulatory rules of the road for the digital asset industry and will be reintroducing the Lummis-Gillibrand Responsible Financial Innovation Act in the coming months.” This Congress, Sen. Lummis will also serve as Chair of the Senate Western Caucus, where she will defend the western way of life by promoting local decision-making and smart public land management, re-establishing American energy dominance, and fostering rural economic development in our communities. |
