WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) applauded the Ninth Circuit Court’s decision to vacate an unprecedented ruling from a district court that blocked federal coal leasing until the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) completed an unnecessary environmental impact statement. This is a win for Wyoming, which would be negatively impacted by an unlawful coal moratorium.
“Wyoming coal not only powers our country, but enables our nation to power the world,” said Lummis. “At a time when this administration’s war on American energy producers has eliminated thousands of American jobs and driven up energy prices, the last thing we need are unnecessary and harmful roadblocks to achieving our energy independence. The court’s wise decision to dismiss this unfounded ruling clears the way for Wyoming energy to resume the production of reliable and affordable energy, creates jobs for people across the Cowboy state and will contribute millions of dollars to Wyoming’s economy.”
