Federal Funding Opportunities

Home 5 Federal Funding Opportunities

Opportunities Overview

When you are looking to start a business or expand economic development opportunities in your community, the federal government can provide assistance, primarily through grant programs. The federal government authorizes billions of dollars in grants to help businesses throughout the country and it is essential that as much of that money as possible is directed to Wyoming. This guide provides a brief overview of the federal grant process and touches on who is eligible for a grant, where to find grant opportunities, how to apply for them as well as information on contracting with the federal government.

Grants.Gov

A good first place to start in your grant finding process is www.grants.gov. Grants.gov is a centralized location for grant seekers to find and apply for federal funding opportunities. It houses information on more than 1,000 grant programs and vets grant applications for federal grant-making agencies. Using the grants.gov system makes it faster, easier and more cost effective for grant applicants to electronically interact with federal grant-making agencies. You can search for grant funding opportunities by keywords, eligibility type, category or agency. Their online Grants Learning Center provides numerous tutorials and resources to help first-time grant applicants and seasoned professionals successfully navigate the federal system.

Sam.Gov

The System for Award Management (SAM.gov) is an official website of the U.S. federal government which can be used to register to do business with the federal government; search for assistance listings, wage determinations and contract opportunities; and access publicly available award data via extracts and system accounts. Assistance listings are detailed public descriptions of federal programs that provide grants, loans, scholarships, insurance and other types of assistance awards. At sam.gov you may browse assistance listings across all government agencies to learn about potential funding sources.

Infrastructure Investments & Jobs Act Funding

These are the highlights of the major current and future funding opportunities from the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act. Federal Agencies will release funding opportunities as they become available through a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). Please utilize the general resources for identifying current and future funding opportunities and agency websites through the direct link to the right.
