As we head into the Memorial Day Weekend, a time in which we honor the countless men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, Democrats in Washington attempted to ram through legislation that falsely alleges a takeover of our uniformed services and law enforcement agencies by white supremacists and neo-Nazis.
Our brave men and women in uniform deserve our respect and gratitude, not a slap in the face by alleging that they have been taken over by extreme terrorism. I voted against the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act not only because it insults our law enforcement officers, but because it would do nothing to stop real threats against our country. Worse still, it would force our own government agencies to analyze and monitor the activities of American citizens.
We should be passing legislation to applaud and honor our service members, not forcing them to monitor their own members while accusing them of being terrorists at the same time. It’s shameful Senate Democrats put this bill on the floor this week. I will continue to fight for those who put their lives on the line to protect the people across Wyoming everyday.
